The United Kingdom and many other European countries have been put on the Qatar Ministry of Health’s travel red list for incoming arrivals, meaning that foreign travelers from these countries will be subject to quarantine restrictions regardless of whether or not they have received vaccinations.

The new rules, which took effect on November 15, apply to arrivals from 21 countries, including Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, as well as Barbados, Brunei, Ethiopia, Iran, Mongolia, Palestine, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates. Visitors visiting Qatar who have received vaccinations will now be required to stay in a hotel for two days upon arrival. Visitors must also acquire a negative PCR test result 72 hours before arriving at their quarantine hotel and must undergo another PCR test upon arrival at their quarantine hotel.

Visitors who have not been vaccinated are obliged to quarantine at a hotel for seven days and will only be released if the results of a PCR test performed on day six of isolation come back negative, according to the CDC. In addition, they will need a negative PCR test result within 72 hours after arriving at the airport.

Guests staying in quarantine hotels must make their reservations via the Discover Qatar website.

The Foreign Office of the United Kingdom verified the move, albeit no explanation has been provided by Qatar for include these nations on its “red list.”

It further said that “while we hear that the United Kingdom’s documentation of Covid recovery and vaccination status is being recognized in practice, Qatar has not yet formally acknowledged this.” In order to get further information on entrance requirements into Qatar, it has advised travelers to contact their local Qatari embassy.
